Ash's Father
Get a grip people!
By saul
Since the beginning of the series there has always been a mystery. That mystery is the one about Ash Ketchum's father. He must have one, everyone does. And doesn't Delia even say in one episode, "Your father would be so proud!"? I belive that she does. But this article isn't about debating over who his father is, it's more about the crazy theories that have come up!
One aboslutley outrageous theory that has come up is that Giovanni, Team Rocket's boss, is Ash's father. Eh - yeah right. I mean really people, get a grip! I have never not once been a supoprter of this theory. First off, like I said Delia says that Ash's dad would of had been so proud. Let's take a look shall we? If Giovanni was Ash Ketchum's father then why did he leave them? (that would be the only suitable explanation). If he left them, he obviously has some issues with both Delia and Ash. Why would Delia tell Ash that if his father left them? I don't think she would, unless she was lying, but from what we've seen of Delia so far shows us that she is not a liar. I think I say this for everyone when I say that Delia is one of the most trusted characters in the series. I think we especially get a glimpse of that side of her in the third Pokemon Movie. There is also one LARGE reason why Giovanni cannot be Ash's father. In the recent Pokemon game installment, FireRed and LeafGreen, a man by the name Gideon seems to clear things up for us. below are the direct translations, and the translations in the english games.

As you can see Giovanni's child has RED HAIR! Last time I checked Ash had black hair. This has quickly shot down the theory of Ash being the child of Giovanni, yet it has made the theory of the character Silver being Giovanni's chiled even stronger.
The next and even more bizzare theory that was out for a short time was that Spencer Hale is Ash Ketchum's father. This theory came form the movie, Spell Of The Unown. In one scene Ash is seen looking at an old picture of Delia, Professor Oak, Molly Hale, Spencer Hale, and his wife.
People began to believe that Spencer Hale (Molly's father, second person from the right) was Ash's father. Now how people were led to believ this I am not sure. Perhaps they thought that Molly and Ash were a seperated brother and sister through a divorce between Delia and Spencer and that Mrs. Hale was Spencer's new wife. We need to look at the facts here, if they were once a family than I'm sure that they would of had said something. This theory just does not seem likely at all.
These are only two of the many crazy theories out there. I have my own though. First off, we need to remember that Pokemon is a different type of anime than many others. Others animes seem to be for a more mature age group. Pokemon however is aimed very much at children, here in America and in Japan. And I'm not saying that adults can't like Pokemon but perhaps Satoshi Tajiri just simply didn't want to create the character who should be Ash's father. Maybe because he felt Ash needed to have a better relationship with his mom. I think that the statement that Delia makes about Ash's father was a sort of mistake. Maybe he had considered puting a father in at the begining, but shot the idea down because he didn't want to bother the younger audience with that problem.
Either way, we may never know who Ash's father really is, but I seriously doubt that he has appeared in the anime, mangas, or games.
